The below instructions are applicable to the release of NVivo - R1/2020 Mac, NVivo 12 Mac and NVivo 11 Mac.
Firstly, please ensure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for installation of NVivo.Refer to What are the minimum and recommended system requirements to run NVivo Mac
If your computer meets minimum system requirements and is still crashing, please contact the Support team.
NVivo Error logs (if any):
NVivo for Mac error logs are named like ‘log-XXXXXX.txt’ and are usually present in the NVivo folder located in your Library folder. Refer to the instructions below to find NVivo error logs:
- Open Finder
- Hold down the Option key
- Choose Go > Library
- Go to Logs folder > NVivo folder (or NVivo 12 folder if using NVivo 12) and look for files named log-XXXXX.txt
- Open Finder
- Hold down the Option key
- Choose Go > Library
- Go to Logs folder > DiagnosticReports
- Locate a file with a .crash file extension, For example, NVivo_2020-06-27-171541_MYMACHINENAME.crash
- Does NVivo crash when doing a certain action such as coding, opening a document, merging projects etc? If yes, please provide details of the actions that cause the crash.
- Do all your projects crash, or do all projects crash when doing a certain action in NVivo?
- Does NVivo Sample project also crash in a similar fashion to your project?
- To attach multiple files, select multiple files by holding down the Shift key (for multiple items) or the Command key (for several individual items) and clicking.
- Control-click or tap using two fingers on the files, and then choose Compress from the shortcut menu.
- If you compress a single item, the compressed file has the name of the original item with the .zip extension. If you compress multiple items at once, the compressed file is called Archive.zip.
- Attach the zipped file to and create a new Support request -> Alfasoft will escalate these customer request to the producer of NVivo (Lumivero).
