Note: The below instructions only apply to NVivo Windows R 1.6. If you are using NVivo 12 Windows or an older version the below instructions do not apply.
If you have tried to convert/copy a NVivo Windows project to NVivo Mac format and have received an error message stating that the project conversion failed, go to your Documents folder, and open the file “Project Conversion Error Log”. Scroll down to the end of the file and check for the below error message appearing in the last three or four lines along with the timestamp:
2022/01/11 09:00:40.304 09:00:40.3048 The database 'QSRNVivoConvertProjectFromWindow1' cannot be opened because it is version 904. This server supports version 869 and earlier. A downgrade path is not supported.
If the above error message is present in the conversion error log, please update NVivo by going to File > Product Info > Check for software updates. After updating NVivo, try to convert the project again.
