NOW HERE! Powered by AI, EndNote 2025 gives you summaries and helps you find references! Read more here.
The Find-a-Journal function in EndNote 2025 uses advanced machine learning to help researchers identify the most appropriate academic journals for their manuscripts. It analyses key elements of your paper—such as the title, abstract, and keywords—to suggest relevant journals, simplifying and accelerating the submission process.. To use this feature, you must:
- Install the Find-a-Journal toolbar.
- Have an EndNote Web/Online account.

Step 1: Understand What You Need
The Find-a-Journal feature is available via the new Cite While You Write (CWYW) plugin, which supports:

- Go to the Insert tab.
- Click Get Add-ins (you might also see "Office Add-ins").
- In the Office Add-ins window, search for: EndNote
- Look for the plugin titled: EndNote Cite While You Write
(Direct link here) - Click Add to install the plugin.
Step 3: Log in to EndNote
- After installation, you’ll see an EndNote tab or panel appear in Word.
- Click it and log in using your EndNote Web/Online account credentials.
Step 4: Use “Find a Journal”
Once logged in:
- Click the Find a Journal option from the EndNote plugin.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to explore suitable journals based on your manuscript details.
Notes:
- This plugin is cloud-based; it requires an internet connection and an EndNote Online account.
- If you’re using an institution-managed computer, you may need admin rights or IT support to install add-ins.
