When utilizing the Sync feature, you might encounter the following synchronization error: "An error occurred while attempting to upload the attachment(s). Please retry."
This particular error is a recognized issue when attachments are located in the Trash.
Solution
To resolve this problem, we recommend emptying the "Trash" folder in both your EndNote desktop library and your EndNote Online library.
You can access your EndNote Online library by following this link.
- Right-click on the "Trash" folder and select "Empty Trash" to empty it.
- Close EndNote completely and then reopen the application.
- Attempt to sync your library again. EndNote should establish a connection, and the issue should be resolved.
If you prefer not to empty the trash
Please be aware that emptying the trash will result in the permanent loss of unrecoverable data. If you wish to retain your trashed items, you can try the following alternative:
- Create a new group in your library named "Trashed References."
- Move all references from the Trash folder to the newly created group.
- Initiate a sync operation.
- Once the sync process is complete, move the references from the temporary group back to the Trash folder.
- Delete the previously created group, "Trashed References."
- Perform another sync to ensure proper synchronization.
