To be able to use floating licenses you need to install the license server software Flexnet on a server machine.
PTC recommends replacing LMADMIN with LMGRD based PTC License Server (FLEXnet Publisher).
Revenera (previously Flexera) is no longer supporting LMADMIN, therefore PTC is recommending all Mathcad customers to switch from LMADMIN to LMGRD to prevent exposure to security vulnerabilities.
LMGRD is supported by Revenera and will allow customers to have the latest security vulnerability fixes
NOTE: You must uninstall older versions manually, before installing a newer.
You can download the software from the PTC portal at support.ptc.com, or contact us.
And please have your license file available before starting the installation. If you don't have it, you can contact us.
On the PTC portal it is called "PTC License Server: FLEXnet Publisher":
When you click on the link you get to page with only one option. So click on "English".
Then click on the download link "Lmgrd 11.19.6.1 Installer".
Then you have to unzip the file.
And you can see these files, where you start setup.exe.
Start setup.exe (Make sure you have the correct privileges to do so.)
Click Next.
Tick both boxes.
Click Next.
Drag and drop your license file into the Source field (or browse for it).
Wait until it's finished.
And click on Finish.
In C:\Program Files\PTC\FLEXnet Admin License Server\bin you should now see some tools:
Test the installation by double clicking on ptcstatus.bat. This should present the number of free licenses:
And hopefully everything then is up and running.
NOTE: You also might have to add exceptions in your firewall:
