On some machines with Mojave or Catalina, attempting to use the EndNote CWYW tools may result in returning to the EndNote library, or an Error message. Here we explain why and what to do.
These macOS includes new Security & Privacy functions which prevent EndNote from being able to correctly automate the formatting of references in Word.
How to correctly set Security & Privacy options
- Go into the Apple menu
- Click System Preferences
- Click Security & Privacy
- Click the Privacy tab (tab at the top)
- Click the Automation options, to the left.
- Here, make sure that both "Microsoft Word" and "EndNote X#" are both turned on.
The EndNote Word functionality will only work if the automation is turned on.
