You've been given access to use NVivo under a multiple perpetual license. There are just two things you need to get started:
- A myNVivo profile (which you may already have).
- Install and activate NVivo.
You may already have NVivo installed, in which case you need to re-activate it so it uses the account with the multiple perpetual license.
1. myNVivo profile
If you already have a myNVivo profile (using the email address that the access notification email you received was sent to) then there's no more to do for this step—the administrator who gave you access to NVivo has linked the multiple perpetual license to your profile. Proceed to step 2.
If you don't have a myNVivo profile then you should have received an email asking you to sign up to one—in addition to the access notification email. A user profile has been started for you. Please click the link in the email to complete the profile.
- If you didn't get the 'Sign up to myNVivo' email (did you check your spam?) or can't find it, go to portal.myNvivo.com, enter your email address (the one that received the invitation email) and follow the prompts to complete your profile.
2. Install and activate NVivo
See the appropriate instructions below:
- New installation
- NVivo already installed—trial
- NVivo already installed—perpetual license
NOTE You can run NVivo on two computers under this license:
• If you are using an enterprise license or multiple perpetual Windows license, you can install on Windows or Mac computers (including one each).
• If you are using a multiple perpetual Mac license, you can only install on Mac computers.
New installation
- Download NVivo using the link(s) in the access notification email, and install. For full instructions, see Installing NVivo.
- Start NVivo.
- When prompted, log into myNVivo.
- If prompted, select the account with the multiple perpetual license that you have been given access to. (If there is only one account linked to your profile, it is selected automatically).
- Click to activate.
Activation is automatic and you can proceed to use NVivo.
NVivo already installed—trial
If you have been trialing NVivo, these instructions tell you how to stop the trial and activate NVivo to use the license that you have been given access to.
- Start NVivo.
- On the Welcome screen, click File.
- Click Product Info / Manage License / Replace License.
- When prompted, log into myNVivo.
-
If prompted, select the account with the multiple perpetual license that you have been given access to. (If there is only one account linked to your profile, it is selected automatically).
- Click to activate.
Activation is automatic and you can proceed to use NVivo.
IMPORTANT Activation requires internet connection and can take up to one hour.
NVivo already installed—perpetual license
If you have already installed and activated NVivo then you will have been using an account (and license) other than the one you have just been given access to. The instructions below tell you how to re-activate your installation to use the new license.
- Start NVivo.
- On the Welcome screen, click File.
- Click Product Info / Manage License / Deactivate License.
- Confirm deactivation, and close NVivo.
- Relaunch NVivo and log into myNVivo when prompted. This time, you are given a choice of accounts.
- In the dropdown, select the account with the multiple perpetual license that you have been given access to and click Activate.
Activation is automatic and you can proceed to use NVivo under the organization's license.
