If you are running NVivo 11, 12, 13 (2020 R1) or NVivo 14 for Windows only and have access to a project recovery file (nvb file), you may be able to recover the data in that file.
Recovery instructions
In NVivo 13 (2020, R1) and newer versions, you can restore your project from the .nvb file by going to File->Help->Restore Project and follow the steps for recovering it.
In NVivo 11 and 12, Download a corrupt dummy project from below which corresponds to the version of NVivo Windows you are using.

- Open NVivo, click on ‘Open Other Project’, then Browse and select the dummy file saved in the previous step. You will be presented with an option to recover from a project recovery file.
- Select your .nvb file from the list to recover the project. If your project does not appear in the list, you can try searching your computer for any .nvb files, these are project recovery files. The project should open automatically once recovery is complete.
