How do I resolve ‘No standalone connection’ error?
These messages normally indicate that Microsoft SQL Server (the database component used by NVivo) has failed to install correctly.
The below instructions are applicable to NVivo R1/2020/13 Windows, NVivo 12 and NVivo 11 Windows.
You are likely to be experiencing this issue as Microsoft SQL Server, which is the database component used by NVivo, has failed to install correctly. To try to overcome this issue, please follow the steps below:

Go to your Control Panel > Programs and Features

Uninstall NVivo.

Restart your computer.

Note: please ensure there are no pending Windows Updates waiting to be installed. Install the necessary pending Updates and restart the computer if required again.

Temporarily disable your anti-virus/security software as these can occasionally block the installation of some applications.

Re-install NVivo 11 or NVivo 12. You can download NVivo from the Downloads Page within the myLumivero portal (you will be required to sign in with your myNVivo username and password).

Re-enable your anti-virus/security software.
