Unfortunately, video files like MP4 format are not directly supported by the NVivo Transcription service. Refer to the link below to understand formats support:
If you want to transcribe videos with NVivo Transcription, you have to import them into NVivo first and then upload them to the NVivo Transcription platform via the "Create" tab in NVivo 12 or via the "Modules" tab in the new NVivo: How to access the NVivo Transcription module in the new NVivo.
When an MP4 or other format of a video file is transcribed from within NVivo, it is converted to MP3 format at the backend and then transcribed. If this conversion isn't successful, then you may receive an error. Note that MP4 is a container format which can contain various codecs.
Another reason for an 'invalid file format' error can be special characters such as # that have been used in the file name of the audio/video file.
